My Romanian Minerals came from the region of Maramures, situated in the north-west of Romania. There are very famous minerals districts and mines. The country seat is Baia Mare.
I have been informed that in September 2007 the pumps in the mines have been turned off and the mines are flooded

Manganoan calcite
Two XX, twinned in an unusual "butterfly" formation, 5.8cm wide; it is similar to the nice formation of baryte in my specimen n.548. The biggest X is 4cm long. On a sphalerite plate covered by small gray quartz XX and minor manganoan calcite XX

XX up to 16.5cm tall, pale ametist; the two main XX are twinned under the Japan law. The biggest and some other minor are biterminated, and covered by microcrystalline calcite
