Alpe di Siusi is the Europe's largest high Alpine pasture, originated by igneous volcanic rocks. It is closed to the Fassa Valley, that is geologically and mineralogically quite similar (go to the devoted page)

 


Analcime
The most frequent occurrence of basaltic and basic igneous rocks: this single white X is 4cm wide. Large XX are usually opaque like this one

Apophyllite
Elongated X, nearly tabular, 1.8x1cm. In the cavity there is some white analcime (bottom and right) and brown "chabazite" XX

Goethite
Tuft of acicular XX, 0.1 cm wide, posted on quartz colored by green celadonite

Natrolite
Cavity filled with pinkish thin prismatic XX of Natrolite, transparent at the tips. Area of 4.5x3.5cm. There are some small analcime XX, semitransparent . It is a classic sample from Alpe di Siusi

Stilbite
Spherules of radial XX of this mineral, known with the local name of  puflerite (from the local name of the place = Pufler Lock). There are also two "chabazite" XX. Maybe not very aesthetic, but interesting, in my opinion
