Old zinc mine, part of the important
lead-zinc mining district In
Orobic Prealps, between Val Brembana and Val Seriana. I see both the name
of Zorzone and Val Vedra used for the same mine.
It belongs to the Oltre il Colle mining district, with three localities: Val
Vedra (Zorzone), Val Parina, monte Arera.
My minerals came from the Malanotte mine, part of the Zorzone - Val Vedra mine,
famous
for plattnerite. The first
discovery of this minerals in province
of
Bergamo
was in 1968

Calcite
This is another typical sample from Zorzone. In the massive
fluorite there is a cavity with calcite. The former XX of calcite
are partially replaced by hydrozincite, and covered by small hemimorphite
XX. There are a lot plattnerite XX, microcrystalline

Hemimorphite
Small transparent XX of hemimorphite, with brown inclusions, on
microcrystalline auricalcite

Hydrozincite
Pale green hydrozincite in the vug - 1.5x3cm wide - of mineralized
matrix

Plattnerite
Thin sparkling XX of black plattnerite are scattered on a mineralized matrix
(hydrozincite) covered by very small XX of hemimorphite.
These XX are less than 0.1 cm approx and this is the better image I am able to take
with my camera
